WHAT: Open House and Welcome Home for Smith Family
The crackling of paper, shouts of laughter, and cheery Christmas music filled the air as we entered Touchdown Terrace at Milan Puskar Stadium. Everywhere we looked people were running around with black and silver trash bags that contained the gifts which had been so caringly selected the night before. Volunteers received their bags on the second floor and returned to the ground floor to grab any spot with a flat surface. The volunteers ranged in age from small children to senior citizens, as everyone got in on the action.
In early fall of last year, Dave and Tammy Smith began a major remodeling project on their Cheat Lake area home. Their goal was to build an addition onto their home in order for each of their children to have their own bedroom as well as create additional and much needed space for their family of five. When they set out to accomplish this project, they knew that it would be a monumental undertaking that would require from the entire family a tremendous amount of energy, patience, tolerance and time. Dave and Tammy were planning on doing this project in phases over the next couple of years.
