Every year the Hoss Foundation Gift Project provides assistance to those in Monongalia County facing hardships due to traumatic injury, illness, or financial crisis, which inhibits them from having the kind of holiday and Christmas every child and family deserves. Below you can find information about how to request gifts for your own family or someone you know, as well as how to volunteer with the Hoss Foundation Gift Project.

Requesting Assistance

Each person who is requesting assistance (or for whom assistance is being requested) should live within 30 miles of downtown Morgantown, WV. If you live outside of this area the Hoss Foundation will not be able to assist you during this project.

In order to request assistance from the Hoss Foundation this holiday season, you will need to be prepared to enter the following information:

  • Your contact information, including name, current phone number, address, and a valid email address.
  • Your story. Why are you requesting assistance this holiday season?
  • Two references including a contact phone number. (Must be an employer, landlord, clergy member, or a former employer.) In order to process your request we must be able to contact all your references.
  • Information for each person for whom you are requesting gifts. This includes name, age, gender, clothing/shoe sizes, and gift ideas including 5 needs and 5 wants. Please do not request large electronics, gift cards, cash, appliances, or large items.

If you are ready to submit an application, please click HERE to create an account. If you have created an account in past years you can use the same log in information. Once you have created an account, you will receive an email that will give you instructions on how to log in and you will be able to fill out an application for assistance.

Volunteering with the Hoss Foundation Gift Project

Each year it takes hundreds of individuals to make the Gift Project a success. Volunteering requires only your time, not your money! You can get involved by:

Adopting a family.

At the shopping event, held on Saturday, December 10 at the I-68 Walmart, you will choose a family that you would like to adopt. You will then shop for these individuals at Walmart, and the items you choose will be purchased by the Hoss Foundation. You will be able to pick up these items at the Wrapping Party, held at University High School on Sunday, December 11, where you will receive information on how to deliver these presents to the family.

Please note that all gifts MUST be picked up from University High School on Sunday, December 11 between 1:00 and 2:30 to guarantee that you will be able to deliver. After 2:30p any gifts that remain can be adopted by anyone who is willing to deliver!

In order to adopt a family, please choose that you are interested in shopping, wrapping, and delivering gifts on the volunteer website.

Shopping

Come to the shopping event, held on Saturday, December 10 at the I-68 Walmart Lawn and Garden Center, to shop for individuals who are in need, beginning at 2:00p.  Please enter through the lawn and Garden Entrance. Items shopped for will be purchased by the Hoss Foundation.

Wrapping

Join in the fun during the wrapping party, held at University High School on December 11 at 1:00p. Gifts will be wrapped in a fun, party environment, including a live DJ, music, games, and food.

Please plan to bring wrapping supplies with you, including scissors, tape, wrapping paper, boxes, etc.

Delivering

Deliver gifts to families. You can register to deliver gifts only, to shop and deliver, to wrap and deliver, or to adopt a family and do all three, see “adopting” above for details. Please note that all gifts MUST be picked up from University High School on Sunday, December 11 between 1:00 and 3:30 if you are just delivering. The Hoss Foundation is unable to hold gifts for pick up at a later time by volunteers.
